Good questions, honest answers.

What actually makes Joi Med different from other med spas around Greenville?
Most med spas treat what you see in the mirror. We start with your bloodwork, hormones, sleep, and stress before Botox or a facial ever comes up — you might come in for a skin concern and leave with a plan that also has you sleeping better.
For most services, the consultation is built directly into the price of your treatment. A more comprehensive consult involving bloodwork carries a separate fee, since it’s genuinely a different level of time and testing. We also offer virtual consultations.
A typical visit treats a symptom. Regenerative wellness starts one layer deeper — supporting your body’s own ability to repair and regenerate, then pairing that with modern medicine on top of it, built around actual bloodwork rather than guesswork.
Yes. We run bloodwork covering hormones, a basic thyroid panel, CBC, and a full metabolic panel to build a real picture before recommending anything, and we offer genetic testing for patients who want to dig even further.
Yes to both. Hormone changes, hair loss, weight management, and skin concerns aren’t exclusive to any one gender, and we offer virtual consultations for anyone who’d rather talk through their concerns before coming in.
We don’t currently offer financing — services are paid for directly. We’re at 409 Mills Ave in Greenville and see patients regularly from Powdersville, Piedmont, Travelers Rest, Simpsonville, Five Forks, and the surrounding Upstate.
We don’t bill insurance, since most of what we offer falls outside what insurance typically covers anyway. Every service is priced individually and we’ll walk you through cost before anything is scheduled, so there’s never a surprise at checkout. If cost is a factor, say so during your consultation. We’d rather build a plan that actually fits your budget than have you assume something’s out of reach.
It depends on the week, but we’re not the kind of practice with a three month wait. Give us a call or fill out the form on our site and we’ll get you the soonest honest availability, sometimes within days. If you’re not local or the drive is a concern, we can also start with a virtual consultation so you’re not waiting on a calendar just to ask questions.
Dr. Joia Adams, an osteopathic physician, is our medical director and personally leads the medical side of your care. Dr. Hitomi Asano, who holds a doctorate in acupuncture and oriental medicine, leads acupuncture and cosmetic acupuncture. You’re not being handed off to a rotating team. The person reviewing your history is the same person building your plan.
It’s fluids and vitamins delivered straight into your bloodstream, which gets nutrients into your system faster and more completely than anything you’d take by mouth. People come in for low energy, poor sleep, getting over being sick, or just feeling run down and wanting a reset. We’ll talk through what you’re dealing with first so the blend actually matches what your body needs instead of a one size fits all bag.
A regular facial mostly sits on the surface. A HydraFacial actually cleanses, extracts, and hydrates in one pass using a medical grade device, so you walk out with a noticeably different result, not just a relaxed hour. Most people do well with one every four to six weeks, though we’ll give you a real recommendation based on your skin once we see it in person.
It’s not only cosmetic at all. Acupuncture has genuine, well studied uses for pain, stress, sleep, and overall balance, and that’s actually where a lot of our patients start before they ever ask about the cosmetic applications. Dr. Asano treats both sides of it, so if you’re dealing with tension, chronic discomfort, or you’re just wound up and not sleeping, that’s a completely valid reason to book.
No. Bloodwork matters when we’re building something like a hormone or weight management plan, since we’re treating a root cause we actually need to see. But if you’re coming in for Botox, a facial, or microneedling, you can book that directly without lab work first. We’ll never ask you to do more testing than the service in front of you actually calls for.
Genuinely, yes. Store bought products are formulated to be safe for anyone off the shelf, which usually means the active ingredients are kept fairly mild. Medical grade skincare uses higher, clinically effective concentrations that are only available through a provider, because they’re strong enough to need one. We build your regimen around your actual skin, not a bestseller list, and it’s usually the thing that makes your in office treatments last longer between visits.
